Edit Hundreds of Photos at Once.
Rename, tag, rate, and export hundreds or thousands of photos in a single operation. Stop doing things one photo at a time.
When you're managing thousands of photos, doing anything one at a time is not an option. Pluto Photos' batch operations let you work on entire selections at once.
What You Can Batch
- Rename — Rename files using templates: date, sequence number, camera model, custom text
- Tag — Add or remove tags from selected photos
- Rate — Set star ratings (1–5) on multiple photos
- Color label — Apply color labels to a selection
- Export — Export selected photos with custom format, quality, and naming
- Delete — Move selected photos to trash
- Move — Move photos between albums
- Date adjust — Shift dates forward or backward (fix timezone issues)
Rename Templates
Build rename patterns using variables:
{date} — Date taken (YYYY-MM-DD){time} — Time taken (HH-MM-SS){camera} — Camera model{seq} — Sequence number (001, 002, ...){original} — Original filename{year}, {month}, {day} — Date components
Example: Hawaii-{date}-{seq} → Hawaii-2025-06-15-001.jpg
Export Options
Batch export supports:
- Format conversion — JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF
- Quality settings — Adjustable compression
- Resize — Scale to max width/height while preserving aspect ratio
- Metadata — Choose whether to include EXIF data in exports
- Naming — Use rename templates for exported files
Speed
Batch operations in Pluto Photos are optimized for performance. Tagging 1,000 photos takes seconds, not minutes. The database engine is designed for bulk operations.
