Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Pluto Photos ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

2. License Grant

Upon purchase, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use Pluto Photos on the number of devices permitted by your license tier:

  • Free — One device, up to 500 photos
  • Pro ($29) — Up to 2 devices, all features including AI, smart albums, and video editor

Your license includes free lifetime updates to the version you purchased (e.g., all 2.x releases).

3. Free Trial

We offer a free 30-day Pro trial. One trial per email address. The trial automatically expires — no credit card is required and you will not be charged. After expiration, the app reverts to the Free tier.

4. Payments & Pricing

All payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are listed in USD and are one-time charges — there are no recurring subscriptions. We reserve the right to change pricing for future purchases, but your existing license is not affected.

5. Refund Policy

All purchases of Pluto Photos are non-refundable. We strongly encourage you to use the Free version before purchasing to ensure the Software meets your needs.

6. Intellectual Property

Pluto Photos, its source code, design, branding, and documentation are the intellectual property of Pluto Photos and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, modify, or redistribute the Software.

7. Your Data & Privacy

Pluto Photos processes all photos locally on your machine. We do not access, upload, or store your photos. For details on what data we collect (email, license info), see our Privacy Policy.

8. Self-Hosted / Docker

The self-hosted Docker version of Pluto Photos is provided "as is." You are responsible for securing your own server, backups, and network configuration. We provide documentation but do not offer managed hosting support.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pluto Photos and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, arising from your use of the Software.

The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share, resell, or sub-license your license key
  • Use the Software for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent license validation
  • Use automated tools to abuse the trial or license system

We reserve the right to revoke licenses that violate these terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must delete all copies of the Software. Sections on intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance.
