The exact list of formats Pluto Photos imports, thumbnails and manages in your library — not a "should work" list, the actual set the app matches on import.
Image Formats
JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, and BMP.
Camera RAW Formats
CR2 and CR3 (Canon), NEF and NRW (Nikon), ARW (Sony), ORF (Olympus), RW2 (Panasonic), RAF (Fujifilm), and DNG (Adobe's universal RAW format, also used natively by some other camera makers). A RAW file's embedded preview is used for fast thumbnailing; the full RAW data is available for editing.
Video Formats
MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI, M4V, 3GP, WMV, FLV, MPG/MPEG, and MTS/M2TS.
Other Formats
PDF and PSD (Photoshop) files are imported and thumbnailed alongside photos and videos. ICO files are also recognized.
What's Not on This List
If a format isn't listed above, Pluto Photos doesn't currently import or recognize it as media in your library. This is the exact list the app matches on import, not a broader "should work" list based on what an underlying library it depends on might technically be capable of decoding.
Questions
Does Pluto Photos support Canon CR3 files?
Yes.
Does Pluto Photos support Nikon RAW files?
Yes — both NEF and NRW.
Can I import PSD files from Photoshop?
Yes, PSD files are imported and thumbnailed like any other media file.
Does Pluto Photos support audio files?
Not as library media to import and organize. Audio files can be used as overlay tracks in the video editor.
