- "Best of 2025" — Rating ≥ 4 stars AND date in 2025
- "iPhone Shots" — Camera contains "iPhone"
- "Family Portraits" — Tag contains "family" AND face detected
- "Vacation Hawaii" — GPS within 50km of Honolulu AND date June 2025
- "Needs Editing" — Color label = Red
How Rules Work
Each smart album has one or more conditions connected with AND/OR logic. Conditions can filter by:
- Date range — Year, month, specific date range
- Camera/lens — Camera model, lens, focal length
- Star rating — 1–5 stars, with ≥, ≤, or = operators
- Tags — Contains, starts with, exact match
- Color labels — Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple
- File type — JPEG, PNG, RAW, HEIC, video
- GPS location — Within radius of a point
- Face — Contains a specific named person
- File size — Greater than, less than
Real-Time Updates
Smart albums are not static snapshots. When you import new photos, change a rating, or add a tag, every smart album instantly re-evaluates. Your albums are always up to date.
